He was no longer a shepherd , and he had nothing , not even the money to return and start everything over . अब तो वह गड़रिया भी नहीं रह गया था , ना ही उसके पास कुछ बचा था । उसके पास तो इतने पैसे भी नहीं थे कि वह वापस जाकर एक बार फिर से अपना जीवन शुरू कर सके ।

“ I ' m a shepherd , and I have been to many places , but I come from only one place - from a city near an ancient castle . That ' s where I was born . ” “ मैं एक गड़रिया हूं … जगह - जगह घूमा हूं … मगर आया तो एक , ही जगह से हूं , उस मशहूर शहर से जो प्राचीन महल के पास है , जहां मैं पैदा हुआ ”

“ My friend bought all the other sheep immediately . He said that he had always dreamed of being a shepherd , and that it was a good omen . ” “ मेरे मित्र ने फौरन ही मेरी बाकी भेड़ें खरीद लीं और कहा कि वह हमेशा से गड़रिया बनने का ररपना देखा करता था और यह भी कि यह एक अच्छा शकुन है । ”

He recalled that when the sun had risen that morning , he was on another continent , still a shepherd with sixty sheep , and looking forward to meeting with a girl . उसने सोचा , आज सुबह जब सूरज उगा था तो जैसे वह किसी दूसरे महाद्वीप में था । तब तक वह एक गड़रिया था जिसके पास अपनी साठ भेड़ें थीं और उसे एक लड़की से मिलने का बेसब्री से इंतजार था ।

A friend had told the boy about the shop , and he had taken his sheep there . किसी दोस्त ने उसे बजाज की इस दुकान का पता बताया था । वह व्यापारी धोखाधड़ी से बचने के लिए ऊन अपने सामने ही कतरवाता था । गड़रिया अपनी भेड़ों को लेकर वहां पहुच गया था ।

“ The people who come here have a lot of money to spend , so they can afford to travel , ” his father said . “ Amongst us , the only ones who travel are the shepherds . ” “ जो लोग यहाँ आए वे धनी थे । घूमने - फिरने और खर्च करने के लिए उनके पास बहुत सारे पैसे थे , मगर हम जैसों में से कोई घूमना - फिरना चाहता है , तो उसका एक ही तरीका है कि वह गड़रिया बन जाए ! ” पिता ने लड़के को समझाया ।

He had to prepare himself for his meeting with the girl , and he didn ' t want to think about the possibility that some other shepherd , with a larger flock of sheep , had arrived there before him and asked for her hand . आखिर उस लड़की से मिलने के लिए तैयारी तो करनी ही पड़ेगी । वह अपने दिमाग से इस विचार को निकाल फेंकना चाहता था कि उसके पीछे कोई दूसरा गड़रिया वहां आया होगा , जिसके पास भेड़ों का बड़ा रेवड़ होगा और जिसने उसके पहुंचने से पहले ही उस लड़की का हाथ मांग लिया होगा ।
