In the summers, to keep the flow of river Ganga continuous, the waters of river Ganga are made to change their path through the Farkka dam into the Hoogly river. ग्रीष्म ऋतु में हुगली नदी के बहाव को निरंतर बनाये रखने के लिये गंगा नदी के जल के एक बड़े हिस्से को फ़रक्का बाँध के द्वारा हुगली नदी में मोड़ दिया जाता है।
