Hundred per cent in rural areas to adopt this position. मिशनरी पोजीशन सर्वाधिक प्रचलित और पारंपरिक सेक्स पोजीशन है. एक सर्वेक्षण के मुताबिक 91 फीसदी लोग बहुधा इस सेक्स पोजीशन का प्रयोग सामान्यतः करते हैं . इस पोजीशन में स्त्री पुरुष के बीच सर्वाधिक समीपता होती है. मिशनरी पोजीशन दो विषमलिंगियों के बीच होने वाले सेक्स में सबसे ज्यादा बार और ज्यादा सहज व ज्यादा पसंद की जाने वाली पोजीशन मानी जाती है. इस पोजीशन को पाने के लिये महिला पीठ के बल टांगे फैला कर (या बंद करके) लेट जाती है फिर पुरुष उसके उपर आकर करीब जाते हुए प्रवेश की क्रिया दोहराता है. इस दौरान वह अपने हाथों के सहारे अपने शरीर के वजन को सम्हालता है. इस पोजीशन में पुरुष को पूरी स्वतंत्रता होती है कि वह किस गति और तरीके से रति क्रिया का संचालन करे. यदि वह सेक्स क्रिया के दौरान महिला के दौरान काफी करीब (नीचे झुकना) आता है तो इस दौरान वह महिला के शरीर के उपरी हिस्से पर अपने शरीर का कुछ वजन हल्का करते हुए आराम की अवस्था में आ सकता है. इस पोजीशन में महिला अपने शरीर का बीच का हिस्से को अपने पैर की सहायता से धक्के के लिये प्रयुक्त कर सकती है (जब वह कामोन्माद की अवस्था में हो या तीव्र धक्कों का आनंद लेना चाहे) या फिर अपने पैरों को पुरुष की कमर में लपेट कर पुरुष की गति को कम कर सकती है. इस रतिक्रीड़ा के दौरान महिला पुरुष के चेहरे एक दूसरे के सामने व काफी निकट होने से चुंबन क्रिया भी बेहतर तरीके से हो सकती है. लेकिन यदि महिला गर्भवती हो तो उसे इस पोजीशन से बचना चाहिए साथ ही पीठ में दर्द रहने वाले भी इससे बचे. पीठ दर्द वाली महिला के लिये तौलियो का गोला बनाकर पीठ के नीचे और तकिया घुटनों के नीचे रखकर सेक्स करना चाहिए. यह भारत में सर्वाधिक प्रचलित पोजीशन है. ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में सौ फीसदी लोग यही पोजीशन अपनाते हैं.
