The number of mills nearly doubled from 362 to 698 and the number of spindles increased from 11 million to 19.54 million . मिलों की संख़्या सन् 1950 के 362 से सन् 1975 में 698 तक पहुंच कर लगभग दुगुनी हो गयी तथा तकुवों की संख़्या एक करोड़ दस लाख से बढ़कर एक करोड़ 95.4 लाख हो गयी .
