Due to the reach of the saltwater of the ocean into the far-away southern part of the delta this region is low, salty and marshy and is filled-up with forests of mangrove species which grow here with ease. डेल्टा के सुदूर दक्षिणी भाग में समुद्र का खारा पानी पहुँचने का कारण यह भाग नीचा नमकीन एवं दलदली है तथा यहाँ आसानी से पनपने वाले मैंग्रोव जाति के वनों से भरा पड़ा है।
