The test comes in the provinces where there is a Muslim majority and in that test the Hindu Mahasabha has failed . Nor is it enough to blame Muslim communalists . It is easy enough to do so , for Indian Muslims as a whole are unhappily very backward and compare unfavourably-with Muslims in all other countries . जांच तो उन सूबों में होती है , जिनमें मुसलमानों का बहुमत है और इस इम्तहान में हिंदू महासभा नाकामयाब रही है.मुस्लिम संप्रदायवादियों को कसूरवार ठहराना भी काफी नहीं क़्योंकि कुल मिलाकर बदकिस्मती से हिंदुस्तान के मुसलमान बहुत पिछड़े हुए हैं और दूसरे मुल्कों के मुसलमानों के मुकाबले में नहीं ठहरते.मुद्दा यह है कि उनकी तादाद बहुत ज़्यादा है और दूसरी यह कि आर्थिक और शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में वे बहुत आगे हैं .

This aspiration is so remote and far-fetched to many non-Muslims, it elicits more guffaws than apprehension. Of course, that used to be the same reaction in Europe, and now it's become widely accepted that, in Bernard Lewis' words , “Europe will be Islamic by the end of the century.” पश्चिम के लोगों को यह तो समझ में आ रहा है कि कट्टरपंथी इस्लाम के साथ युद्ध जारी है परंतु वे शत्रु के लक्ष्य को समझने में अब भी नाकामयाब हैं.तो यह लक्ष्य है इस्लामिक कानून या शरीयत को पूरी दुनिया पर लागू करना . अमेरिका के संदर्भ में यह लक्ष्य है संविधान के स्थान पर कुरान को स्थापित करना . गैर - मुसलमानों को मुसलमानों की यह आकांक्षा अभी दूर का सपना दिखती है . यूरोप में भी ऐसी ही प्रतिक्रिया है जैसा कि वर्नाड लेवी के शब्दों से स्पष्ट है “इस शताब्दी के अंत तक यूरोप इस्लामिक हो जाएगा.”
