The once looked down upon aluminium , meant to be used only for the poor man 's utensils , is found to be versatile in its uses in the automobile and aircraft industries and for the generation and transmission of electricity . कभी हेय दृष्टि से देखी जाने वाली धातु अल्मुनियम , जो केवल निर्धनों के लिए बर्तन बनाने के काम आती थी , अब स्वचालित वाहनों और वायुयान संबंधी उद्योगों तथा बिजली के उत्पादन और प्रेषण में प्रयोग के लिए भी अत्यधिक उपयोगी सिद्ध हुई .

Apart from co-ordinating all schemes of power development , transmission and utilisation , it also undertook to organise investigations , surveys and research and to advise and assist the Central and state governments in matters relating to power development . विद्युत उत्पादन , प्रेषण और उपयोग की सभी योजनाओं में समन्वय करने के अतिरिक़्त , इस कमीशन ने विद्युत विकास से संबंधित विषयों में केंद्रीय और राज़्य सरकारों को सलाह और सहायता देने के उद्देश्य से अन्वेषण , अनुसंधान और सर्वेक्षण के अनेक कार्य संगठित किये .
