An ant which moves in a great hurry suddenly slips and slides down the sand into the pit , gets panicky and makes a frantic attempt to climb out , but in vain , because the loose and rolling grains of sand make it slide further down . अत्यधिक जल्दीबाजी में रहने वाली चींटी अचानक फिसल जाती है और रेत पर घिसटती हुई गड्ढ़े में आ गिरती है.भयाक्रांत होकर यह उस गर्त से बाहर निकलने के लिए बुरी तरह से हाथ पैर मारती है लेकिन सब व्यर्थ जाता है क़्योंकि रेत के ढीले और लुढ़कते हुए कण इसे और भी नीचे की ओर फिसला देते हैं .

Tratata , tratata - they swung round in the tiny space between the lumpy sofa , the table and the rickety chair , breathless and solemn as they played at life in all seriousness . As they danced the plump shadow of the two linked forms slipped over the walls and climbed to the ceiling , streaming , bending in the corners ; light and shade fell on her face as they turned in the dance . तराताता … तराताता … बेडौल सोफे , मेज़ और टूटी कुरसी के बीच तंग , खाली जगह में वे नाचने लगे - हाँफते हुए , संजीदा … मानो उन दोनों ने ज़िंदगी के इस अभिनय को भी बहुत गम्भीरता से स्वीकृत कर लिया हो । नाचते हुए उनकी उलझी आकृतियों की छाया दीवारों पर फिसलती हुई ऊपर छत तक चढ जाती थी और फिर नीचे की ओर बहते हुए कमरे के कोनों में दुबक जाती थी । जब कभी वे मुड़ते थे , एस्थर के चेहरे पर आलोक और छाया का जाल फिसल जाता था ।
