In Pakistan, the Jamaat-e-Islami party, an Islamist organization, calls for a ban on Valentine's Day. One of its leaders dismisses it as “a shameful day” when Westerners “are just fulfilling and satisfying their sex thirst.” In Malaysia, a mufti thunders against the day: “We Muslims do not need such a culture or practice, which is clearly against the teachings of our religion [which are] complete, perfect and credible.” पाकिस्तान में जमायते इस्लामी नामक इस्लामवादी संगठन में वैलेन्टाइन पर प्रतिबन्ध का आह्वान किया इसके एक नेता ने इसे शर्मनाक दिन की संज्ञा दी जब पश्चिम के लोग अपनी काम पिपासा शान्त करते हैं । मलेशिया में एक मुफ्क्ती ने गर्जना की , हम मुसलमानों को ऐसी किसी किसी भी संस्कृति या चलन की आवश्यकता नहीं है जो प्रामाणिक, परिपूर्ण हमारे धर्म की शिक्षाओं के प्रतिकूल हैं।

Nor is this the first time Islamists have specifically targeted infidels. In Malaysia in 2000, for example, jihadists purposefully killed two non-Muslim hostages and spared two others, both Muslims. In Pakistan in 2002, a police chief noted killers “took a good fifteen minutes in segregating the Christians and making sure that each one of their targets gets the most horrific death.” The murderers separated Christians from Muslims by requiring each hostage to recite a verse from the Koran.
