Nevertheless , the country was startled one morning in May to hear that the Mahatma had suspended the civil disobedience movement . लेकिन मई की एक सुबह जब यह खबर मिली कि गांधी जी ने सविनय अवज्ञा आंदोलन स्थगित कर दिया है , तो सारा देश भौंचक रह गया .

Gandhiji was shocked at this turn of events and at his instance the Congress Working Committee suspended the civil disobedience movement . इस घटना से गांधीजी स्तब्ध रह गये और उनके आग्रह पर कांग्रेस कार्यकारिणी ने सविनय अवज्ञा आंदोलन स्थगित कर दिया .

Soon after the suspension of the civil disobedience movement , Subhas Chandra was invited to preside over an Indian Political Conference in London . सविनय अवज्ञा आंदोलन के स्थगन के बाद सुभाष चन्द्र को लंदन में इंडियन पालिटिकल कांफ्रेंस की अध्यक्षता करने का निमंत्रण मिला .

With civil disobedience came boycott of British goods , disobedience of the law of sedition , picketing of liquor shops , etc . सविनय अवज्ञा के साथ साथ शुरू हुआ ब्रिटिश उत्पादों का बहिष्कार , राजद्रोह , कानून की अवहेलना , शराब की दुकानों पर पिकेटिंग , वगैरह वगैरह .

As the year drew to a close , Congressmen became more interested in the anti-untouch-ability campaign and Temple Entry Bills rather than in civil disobedience . वर्ष का अंत आते-आते कांग्रेसी सविनय अवज्ञा को भूलकर अस्पृश्यता-विरोधी अभियान तथा मंदिर-प्रवेश विधेयक जैसी चीजों में रमे रहने लगे .

Thereupon , the Mahatma began his three weeks ' historic march from Ahmedabad to Dan-di , a sea-coast village , where civil disobedience was to be inaugurated . तदुपरांत गांधी जी ने अहमदाबाद से सुदूर सागर तट पर बसे डांडी गांव तक तीन सप्ताह लंबी पद यात्रा की , जहां से सविनय अवज्ञा का शुभारंभ होना था .
