Only about 700 A.D., when the rulers of a now-vast Arabian empire felt the need for a unifying political theology, did they cobble together the Islamic religion. The key figure in this enterprise appears to have been the brutal governor of Iraq, Hajjaj ibn Yusuf. No wonder, writes Spencer, that Islam is “such a profoundly political religion” with uniquely prominent martial and imperial qualities. The pattern is striking: For over four centuries, from 1400 to 1830, Europeans expanded around the world, trading, ruling, and settling - but distinctly in places where Muslims were not, such as the Western Hemisphere, sub-Saharan Africa, East Asia, and Australia. Pared to its essentials, he counsels two things: First, avoid the “bloated European welfare systems,” declare them no less than a national security threat, shrink the state, and emphasize the virtues of self-reliance and individual innovation. Ottoman neglect of Jerusalem in the 19 th century prompted the French novelist Gustav Flaubert to describe it as “Ruins everywhere, and everywhere the odor of graves. … The Holy City of three religions is rotting away from boredom, desertion, and neglect.” Palestinian Arabs rediscovered Jerusalem only after the British conquered it in 1917, when they used it to rouse Muslim sentiments against imperial control. Fascism is a chauvinistic political philosophy that exalts a group over the individual-usually a race or nation, but in this case the adherents of a religion. Fascism also espouses centralized autocratic rule by that group in suppression of others. It usually advocates severe economic and social regimentation and the total or near-total subordination of the individual to the political leadership. This accurately describes the philosophies of Hitler, Mussolini, the leaders of Imperial Japan and other fascistic regimes through history. It also describes Thursday's terrorists. It very accurately describes the philosophy of al Qaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas and many other stripes of Islamism around the world. फासीवाद एक अतिरेकी राजनीतिक दर्शन है जो एक व्यक्ति पर राष्ट्र या नस्ल को प्राथमिकता देता है लेकिन यहां यह लगाव धर्म से है. फासीवाद एक केन्द्रित निरंकुश शासन को अपनाता है जिसमें वह वर्ग अन्य लोगों का दमन करता है .यह सामान्य तौर पर गहन आर्थिक और सामाजिक संगठित व्यवस्था की वकालत करता है जो कि राजनीतिक नेतृत्व के व्यक्ति के पूर्णतया या लगभग नियंत्रण में रहती है . सही ढंग से इसकी व्याख्या इतिहास में हिटलर , मुसोलिनी और साम्राज्यवादी जापान के शासकों से हो सकती है . इसकी व्याख्या गुरुवार के आतंकवादियों से भी हो सकती है .अत्यंत अच्छे ढंग से इसकी व्याख्या अल-कायदा , हिजबुल्लाह , हमास या समस्त विश्व के अनेक इस्लामवादियों से हो सकती है .

Edward Said , university professor, calls the U.S. policy in Iraq a “grotesque show” perpetrated by a “small cabal” of unelected individuals who hijacked U.S. policy. He accuses “George Bush and his minions” of hiding their imperialist grab for “oil and hegemony” under a false intent to build democracy and human rights. Said deems Operation Iraqi Freedom “an abuse of human tolerance and human values” waged by an “avenging Judeo-Christian god of war.” This war, he says, fits into a larger pattern of America “reducing whole peoples, countries and even continents to ruin by nothing short of holocaust.” एडवर्ड सेड - विश्वविद्यालय के प्रोफेसर ने इराक में अमेरिकी नीति को एक स्तब्ध कर देने वाला प्रदर्शन बताया जो कि अनिर्वाचित गोपनीय राजनीतिक दल द्वारा संचालित है जिसने अमेरिका की नीतियों का अपहरण कर लिया है। उन्होंने जार्ज बुश और उनके सहयोगियों पर आरोप लगाया है कि वे तेल और प्रभाव के अपने साम्राज्यवादी लोभ को मानवाधिकार तथा लोकतन्त्र निर्मित करने के आशय के पीछे छुपा रहे हैं। सेड के अनुसार आपरेशन इराकी फ्रीडम मानवीय सहिष्णुता और मानवीय मूल्यों का उल्लंघन है जो ईसाई और यहूदी युद्ध देवता द्वारा चलाया गया है। उनके अनुसार यह युद्ध अमेरिका की उस बड़ी परिपाटी में सटीक बैठते है, जिसमें सभी देशों, लोगों और यहाँ तक कि महाद्वीपों को जनसंहार से कम कुछ भी नहीं की स्थिति में नष्ट किया जाये।

(7) Nonetheless, some voices gamely argue for the accuracy of “Islamic fascists.” After himself using the term on television, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff justified it by noting that bin Laden has talked about restoring the Caliphate, the empire that existed in the southern Mediterranean centuries ago. That is nothing-it‘s deranged, but essentially it is a vision of a totalitarian empire with him leading under some kind of perverted conception of religion. That comes very close to satisfying my definition of fascism.
