Under his patronage the Calcutta Madrasah was established in 1781 and the Royal Asiatic Society of Bengal for research in Oriental studies in 1784 , under the presidentship of Sir William Jones . उनके सरंक्षण में 1781 में कलकत्ता मदरसा तथा 1784 में प्राच्य-विद्या में शोद्य के लिए रायल एशियाटिक सोसाइटी की स्थापना की गयी .

Indeed the Samarasa Veda Sanmarga Sangam , founded by him , may be considered to be the Indian counterpart of the Theosophical Society , founded ten years later in 1875 in New York . देखा जाये तो उनके द्वारा स्थापित समरस वेद सन्मार्ग संगम को भी न्यूयार्क मे दस वर्ष बाद सन् 1875 मे स्थापित थियोसोफिकल सोसाइटी का भारतीय प्रतिरूप माना जा सकता है .
