Ironically, most Muslim alienation is found in those countries where Muslims are either the most or the least accommodated, suggesting that a middle path is best - where Muslims do not win special privileges, as in Britain, nor are they in an advanced state of hostility, as in Nigeria. Overall, the Pew survey sends an undeniable message of crisis from one end to the other of the Muslim world. विडम्बना है कि उन देशों में मुसलमान सर्वाधिक अलग-थलग हैं जहाँ या तो अधिकतर आत्मसात् किये गये हैं या एकदम नहीं किये गये हैं. इससे सुझाव मिलता है कि मध्यम मार्ग सर्वाधिक उपयुक्त है जहाँ न तो ब्रिटेन जैसा मुसलमानों को विशेषाधिकार प्राप्त है और न ही नाइजीरिया जैसी शत्रुवत् स्थिति काफी आगे बढ़ चुकी है.

Denbigh High School in Luton, 30 miles northwest of London, has a student population that is about 80% Muslim. Years ago, it accommodated the sartorial needs of their faith and heritage, including a female student uniform made up of the Pakistani shalwar kameez trousers, a jerkin top, and hijab head covering. But when a teenager of Bangladeshi origins, Shabina Begum, insisted in 2004 on wearing a jilbab , which covers the entire body except for the face and hands, Denbigh administrators said no. The dispute ended up in litigation and the Court of Appeal ultimately decided in Ms. Begum's favor. As a result, by law British schools must now accept the jilbab. Not only that, but Prime Minister Blair's wife, Cherie Booth, was Ms. Begum's lawyer at the appellate level. Ms. Booth called the ruling “a victory for all Muslims who wish to preserve their identity and values despite prejudice and bigotry.” लंदन के उत्तर पश्चिमी क्षेत्र से 30 मील की दूरी पर स्थित लूटन के डेनविग हाई स्कूल में मुस्लिम विद्यार्थियों की संख्या 80 प्रतिशत है .कुछ साल पहले इस विद्यालय ने अपनी विरासत के अनुरुप मुस्लिम लड़कियों के लिए पाकिस्तान के सलवार - कमीज , बिना बाजू की टॉप और सिर ढ़कने वाले हिजाब का वेश निर्धारित कर दिया .लेकिन जब बांग्लादेशी मूल की शबीना बेगम ने जिजाब पहनने का जिद की ( जो चेहरे और हाथ को छोड़ कर सारे शरीर को ढ़कता है) तो डेनविग प्रशासन ने ऐसा करने से मना कर दिया . यह मामला अदालत में गया और अपील की अदालत ने बेगम के पक्ष में निर्णय दिया . इसके परिणाम स्वरुप कानूनी रुप से ब्रिटिश स्कूलों को जिज़ाब अपनाना होगा. इतना ही नहीं तो बेगम के मुकदमें में अपील की अदालत में उनकी पैरवी इंग्लैंड के प्रधानमंत्री टोनी ब्लेयर की पत्नी चेरी बूथ कर रही थी. श्रीमती बूथ ने इस निर्णय को समस्त मुसलमानों के लिए एक विजय बताया ताकि वे पूर्वाग्रहों और असहिष्णुता के बीच अपनी पहचान और मूल्यों की रक्षा कर सकें.
