” It may be perfectly true that European judges and more especially barrister judges , are often imperfectly acquainted with the religious views and feelings of the Hindu community , and the utmost they can do , when occasion arises , is to consult those who are best informed upon the subject and to be guided by their advice . ” यह पूर्णतया सही है कि यूरोपीय न्यायाधीश , विशेष रूप से बैरिस्टर न्यायाधीश हिंदू समाज के धार्मिक विचारों और भावनाओं से अधिक परिचित नहीं हैं और ऐसा अवसर आने पर ज्यादा से ज्यादा यही कर सकते हैं कि इस विषय के जानकार व्यक्तियों से सलाह करें और उनके परामर्श पर चलें .

He submitted that he had no concern with any matter which appeared in the paper nor had he any power to prevent any matter appearing therein ; that he was imperfectly acquainted with the English language and though able to compose words in English , he did not readily understand the sense and meaning of what he composed and set up . उन्होंने कहा कि पत्र में छपने वाली सामग्री से न तो उनका कोई सरोकार है और न ही उन्हें उसमें किसी लेख को छापने या न छापने का निर्णय लेने का अधिकार है.उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि अंग्रेजी भाषा की बारीकियों का पूरा ज्ञान उन्हें नहीं है और वह अंग्रेजी में शब्दों को मुद्रित तो करते हैं , लेकिंन उनके अर्थ भली-भांति नहीं समझते .

” It is alleged that our ' native ' magistrates and judges are not sufficiently acquainted with the habits and customs of the European community , especially the lower classes . If this is a sound argument , every European judge in India ought to be at once deprived of his jurisdiction over the ' native ' of this country . For what can be clearer than that even the judges of the High Court know but little of the masses of the ' native ' community ? यह आरोप लगाया जाता है कि हमारे देसी मऋसऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-ट्रेट और जज , यूरोपीय समुदाय , विशेषरूप से निमऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-न वर्गो की आदतों और रिवाजों से पर्ळचित नहीं हैं.यदि यह तर्क ठोस है तो भारत में यूरोपीय जजों को इस देश के मूल निवासियों पर नऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-याय करने के अधिकार से तुरंत वंचित कर देना चाहिए कऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-योंकि यह बात भी अतऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-यंत सऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-पषऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-ट है कि उचऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-च नऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-यायालय के जज भी अधिकांश मूल निवासियों के विषय में शायद ही कोऋ जानकारी रखते हों .
