On the ' Sankranti ' day the Brahmin priests visit their clients who give them alms according to their means . यहां संक्रांति के दिन ब्राह्मण अपने यजमानों के धर जाते है.यथाशक़्ति उनको दान देते है .

Alms(Zakat)- This is an yearly alms which is mandatory for every financially adequate Muslim to give to the poor. दान (ज़कात)- यह एक वार्षिक दान है जो कि हर आर्थिक रूप से सक्षम मुसलमान को निर्धनों को देना अनिवार्य है।

On the following morning they bring them to the ponds , wash them , wash themselves , and give alms . दूसरे दिन सवेरे वे उन टोकरियों को तालाब पर लाती हैं , उन्हें धोती हैं , स्वयं स्नान करती हैं और दान देती हैं .

If the quarter which is to be reserved exceeds this amount , only this amount is reserved , whilst the remainder is spent as alms . यदि वह चौथाई भाग जिसे Zआरक्षित करना है इस राशि से बढ़ जाए तो केवल इतनी ही राशि आरक्षित की जाती है और बाकी राशि दान पर खर्च कर दी जाती है .

Then people bathe , dress festively , make 1st Karttika presents to each other of betel-leaves and areca-nuts ; they ride to the temples to give alms and play merrily with each other till noon . इस दिन लोग स्नान करते हैं , बढ़िया कपड़े पहनते हैं , एक-दूसरे को पान-सुपारी भेंट देते हैं , घोड़े परसवार होकर दान देने मंदिर जाते हैं , और एक-दूसरे के साथ दोपहर तक हर्षोल्लास के साथ खेलते हैं .

The second is spent on trade to bring profit , and one-third of the third portion -LRB- i.e . one-ninth of the whole -RRB- is spent on alms , whilst the ' two other thirds are spent according to the same rule . दूसरा व्यापार में लगाया जाता है ताकि लाभ मिले और तीसरे भाग का एक-तिहाई ( अर्थात कुल का नवां हिस्सा ) दान पर खर्च किया जाता है जबकि दूसरे तिहाई हिस्से उसी नियम के अनुसार खर्च किए जाते हैं .

One-fourth is destined for common expenses , the second for liberal works of a noble mind , the third for alms , and the fourth for being kept in reserve , i.e . not more of it than the common expenses for three years . एक-चौथाई तो आम खर्चों के लिए अलग रख दिया जाता है , दूसरा उदारचेताओं के सत्कार्यों के लिए , तीसरा दान के लिए और चौथा आरक्षित रखने के लिए अर्थात उतना ही जो तीन वर्षों के सामान्य खर्चों को पूरा करने के लिए पर्याप्त हो .
