In more complex nomenclature, a basalt with approximately 1 % plagioclase phenocrysts, but 4 % olivine microphenocrysts, might be termed an " aphyric to sparsely plagioclase-olivine phyric basalt ", where plagioclase is listed before the olivine, because of its larger crystals.
