:Stu, it might help to divide the list into two, distinguishing ( wherever possible ) between the moral and the pragmatic : not that I think some of them are not " based on " moral principles, but I'd bet that you could be argued out of some of them on the grounds that adopting them would " in practice " have effects that you'd consider bad.
