Obama vs. Morsi : The American and Egyptian presidents offered starkly different views on the freedom to blaspheme in their speeches to the United Nations last week. Barack Obama insisted that “in 2012, at a time when anyone with a cell phone can spread offensive views around the world with the click of a button, the notion that we can control the flow of information is obsolete. The question, then, is how we respond. And on this we must agree: there is no speech that justifies mindless violence.” Mohamed Morsi disagreed: “The obscenities recently released as part of an organized campaign against Islamic sanctities is unacceptable and requires a firm stand. We have a responsibility in this international gathering to study how we can protect the world from instability and hatred.” In brief, each side has an approach and method (free speech vs. prohibition of blasphemy) which it considers fundamental to its identity and forward with a certain reverence. Ever since the Khomeini edict against Salman Rushdie in 1989, each side intends to impose its way on the other side, suggesting that this clash of wills has just begun. संक्षेप में प्रत्येक पक्ष का अपना तरीका है ( अभिव्यक्ति की स्वतंत्रता और ईशनिंदा को रोकना) जो कि उसे अपनी पहचान का मूलभूत स्वरूप मानता है और उसका उसी रूप में सम्मान करता है। 1989 में सलमान रश्दी के विरुद्ध खोमैनी के फतवे के बाद से दोनों ही पक्ष एक दूसरे पर स्वयं को थोपने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं और इससे यही प्रतीत होता है कि इच्छा का यह संघर्ष अभी आरम्भ ही हुआ है।

In the case of Islamism, this same process has already begun; indeed, the revulsion started with much less destruction wrought than in the prior two cases (Islamism not yet having killed tens of millions) and with greater speed (years, not decades). Among Muslims, however, these debates have only begun. Even if formally banned in Qatar in 1952, Saudi Arabia in 1962, and Mauritania in 1980, slavery still exists in these and other majority-Muslim countries (especially Sudan and Pakistan). Some Islamic authorities even claim that a pious Muslim must endorse slavery. Bin Laden himself spoke of ensuring that “the pious caliphate will start from Afghanistan.” His chief deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri , also dreamed of re-establishing the caliphate, for then, he wrote, “history would make a new turn, God willing, in the opposite direction against the empire of the United States and the world's Jewish government.” Another Al-Qaeda leader, Fazlur Rehman Khalil , publishes a magazine that has declared “Due to the blessings of jihad, America's countdown has begun. It will declare defeat soon,” to be followed by the creation of a caliphate. वर्तमान समय के एक अत्यंत प्रभावशाली इस्लामवादी विद्वान और ओसामा बिन लादेन को प्रभावित करने वाले अबदुल्ला अज्जाम ने घोषित किया है कि “उनका जीवन केवल एक लक्ष्य के इर्द गिर्द घूमता है और वह है पृथ्वी पर अल्लाह के शासन की स्थापना और खिलाफत की पुनर्स्थापना ”.ओसामा बिन लादेन भी इस बात की घोषणा करता है कि पवित्र खिलाफत का आरंभ अफगानिस्तान से होगा . लादेन के ही करीबी सहयोगी अमान अल जवाहिरी का भी सपना खिलाफत की पुनर्स्थापना है .वह लिखता है “इतिहास नई करवट लेगा .अल्लाह की इच्छा के अनुसार यह करवट अमेरिका के साम्राज्य और विश्व की यहूदी सरकार के ठीक विपरीत होगी ” . अल -कायदा के ही एक और नेता फजलुर रहमान खलील ने एक पत्रिका में लिखा है कि “जिहाद के आशिर्वाद से अमेरिका की उल्टी गिनती शुरु हो गई है यह जल्द ही अपने पराजय की घोषणा कर देगा ”.खलील का मानना है कि इसके बाद खिलाफत के निर्माण की प्रकिया आरंभ होगी .
