It is thus fine for the Alsace regional council in France to provide €424.000 to help build the Grand Mosque of Strasbourg, or 8 percent of its cost, because the same body also voted €325.000 (or 15 percent of the total) for renovations to the Strasbourg cathedral, and a like amount for works at the city's Grand Synagogue. It is quite another when, outside Alsace (which, for historical reasons , is not subject to the same secular regulations as the rest of France), the French government considers paying for mosque construction . It is also unacceptable when the City of Boston, Mass. sells land for an Islamic complex at well below the market price, a benefit unheard of for other religious groups in that city. मुसलमानों द्वारा अधिक अधिकार की माँग के मामलों में प्रमुख अंतर यह करना चाहिए कि क्या मुस्लिम अपेक्षायें समाज के दायरे में उपयुक्त बैठती हैं या नहीं जहाँ वे उपयुक्त हैं वहाँ उनको समायोजित किया जाता है जैसे इन मामलों में - ईद उल अधा छुट्टियों के लिए स्कूल और विश्वविद्यालय बंद किए जाते हैं .

When that happens, grand cathedrals will appear as vestiges of a prior civilization - at least until a Saudi style regime transforms them into mosques or a Taliban-like regime blows them up. The great national cultures - Italian, French, English, and others - will likely wither, replaced by a new transnational Muslim identity that merges North African, Turkish, subcontinental, and other elements. जैसा कि दिखाई पड़ रहा है कि गैर मुसलमान नयी इस्लामी व्यवस्था की ओर प्रवृत्त हुये तो यह महाद्वीप मुस्लिम बहुसंख्यक क्षेत्र बन जायेगा. जब ऐसा होगा तो भव्य चर्च पुरानी सभ्यता के अवशेष बनकर रह जायंगे जब तक कि सउदी शैली का प्रशासन उसे मस्जिद में न परिवर्तित कर दे या तालिबान जैसा प्रशासन उसे उड़ा न दे. इटली, फ्रांसीसी, अंग्रेज और अन्य महान राष्ट्रीय संस्कृतियों का पतन होगा और उनका स्थान उत्तरी अफ्रीका , तुर्की, उपमहाद्वीप और अन्य तत्वों के विलयन से बनी पराराष्ट्रीय इस्लामी पहचान ले लेगी.

The speakers invited to the event have well-established records of promoting moderate Islamic perspectives, advocating democracy within the Muslim world, and opposing terrorism. One speaker, Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi, was invited by President Bush to lead a Muslim prayer at the Interfaith Prayer Service at the Washington National Cathedral after 9/11. He is also the leading Muslim participant in the Catholic/Muslim dialogue with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and has been very actively involved in other interfaith projects. आमन्त्रित किये गये वक्ताओं की आतंकवाद का विरोध करने, मुस्लिम विश्व में लोकतन्त्र की वकालत करने और नरमपंथी इस्लामी दृष्टिकोण को आगे बढ़ाने में अहम भूमिका है. एक वक्ता डा. मुजम्मिल सिद्दीक को 11 सितम्बर की घटना के बाद राष्ट्रपति बुश ने वाशिंगटन के नेशनल कैथेड्रल में आयोजित अन्तर्धार्मिक प्रार्थना में मुसलमानों का प्रतिनिधित्व करने के लिये आमन्त्रित किया था. वे कैथोलिक विशपों के अमेरिका सम्मेलन में कैथोलिक व मुस्लिम संवाद में अग्रणी मुसलमान थे और इसके साथ ही अनेक अन्तर्धार्मिक प्रकल्पों में बढ़-चढ़कर हिस्सा लेते रहते हैं.
