Both protest our conclusion that Muslims “make up a majority of the country's convicted rapists,” saying that because Danish statistics do not correlate religion with crime, this assertion “is without any basis in fact.” Statistics Denmark does, however, produce numbers on immigrants from Third World countries and their descendants, which it reports makes up 5% of the population; and it is known that Muslims make up four-fifths of this element. The latest police figures show that 76.5% of convicted rapists in Copenhagen belong to that 5% of the population, and from that we drew our understated conclusion. Our critics then sow confusion about the word “welfare.” We wrote in English for an English-speaking readership, and used “welfare” in the conventional English sense of meaning public assistance in the form of cash or food stamps-not in the Danish sense of including “housing, transport, homecare, early retirement, protected workplaces, daycare and other smaller schemes” as mentioned by the two politicians. दोनों ही हमारे इस निष्कर्ष का विरोध करते हैं कि मुस्लिम “ देश में दोषसिद्ध बलात्कारियों” में बहुतायत में हैं उनका यह इस आधार पर कहना है कि कि डेनमार्क के आँकडों में धर्म को नहीं मिलाया जाता वास्तव में यह निराधार बात है। डेनमार्क के आँकडों में ऐसा है यह तीसरे विश्व के आप्रवासियों की संख्या को प्रस्तुत करता है और उनके वंशजों को भी और रिपोर्ट के अनुसार वे कुल जनसंख्या का 5 प्रतिशत हैं और मुस्लिम इसका पाँच चौथाई हैं। सबसे हाल का पुलिस आँकडा दर्शाता है कि कोपेनहेगन में बलात्कार के दोषसिद्ध 76.5 प्रतिशत उसी 5प्रतिशत जनसंख्या से हैं और इसी आधार पर हमने यह निष्कर्ष निकाला है।

Less common but more intimidating is the violence that targets those who defy the Rushdie Rules. Let us limit examples of this phenomenon to one country, Denmark. In October 2004, an instructor at the Carsten Niebuhr Institute at the University of Copenhagen was kicked and hit by several strangers as he left the university. They informed him that he had read from the Koran, which as an infidel ( kafir ) he had no right to do. In October 2005, Jyllands-Posten editor Flemming Rose was threatened for having commissioned cartoons depicting Muhammad. Two of the cartoonists had to go into hiding. One of them, Kurt Westergaard , subsequently narrowly escaped physical attack inside his home. In March 2006, Naser Khader , an anti-Islamist politician, was threatened by an Islamist who warned that if Khader became a government minister, he and his ministry would be blown up. यह बात अधिक सामान्य नहीं है लेकिन अत्यन्त अवरोध उत्पन्न करने वाली है कि हिंसा का शिकार उन्हें बनाया जाता है जो कि रश्दी नियम का उल्लंघन करते हैं। यदि हम उदाहरण के द्वारा इस रुझान को केवल एक देश तक सीमित करें । डेनमार्क, अक्टूबर, 2004 में कार्स्टन नेबुर इंस्टीट्यूट में कोपेनहेगन विश्वविद्यालय के निदेशक को विश्वविद्यालय छोडते ही कुछ अपरिचित लोगों द्वारा मारा गया और लातों से मारा गया। उसे कहा गया कि उसने कुरान से कुछ उद्धृत किया जो कि काफिर होने के नाते उसे करने का अधिकार नहीं था। अक्टूबर, 2005 में जाइलैण्ड पोस्टेन के सम्पादक फ्लेमिंग रोज को मोहम्मद का कार्टून दिखाने के कारण धमकी दी गयी। कार्टून बनाने वाले दो लोगों को भूमिगत होना पडा। उनमें से एक कुर्ट वेस्टर्ग़ार्ड अपने घर में हुए एक आक्रमण मे बाल बाल बच गया। मार्च 2006 में नासिर खादेर नामक एक इस्लामवाद विरोधी राजनेता को किसी इस्लामवादी ने धमकी दी कि यदि खादेर सरकार में मंत्री बना तो उसे और उसके मंत्रालय को उडा दिया जायेगा।
