U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry rightly described the attack as a “ massacre ” while former governor Howard Dean called the Iraqi prime minister a “ mass murderer .” The U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights “condemned” the attack and the U.N. Assistance Mission for Iraq ( UNAMI ) expressed “deep concern.” यह घटना बगदाद द्वारा इस बात की प्रतिज्ञा लिये जाने के बाद घटी कि ईरानी विद्रोहियों की रक्षा की जायेगी और उनके साथ मानवीय ढंग से व्यवहार होगा। अमेरिका सीनेट के विदेश व्यवहार समिति के अध्यक्ष जान केरी ने ठीक ही इसे “ जनसंहार” की संज्ञा दी है जबकि पूर्व राज्यपाल हावर्ड डीन ने इराक के प्रधानमंत्री को “ जनसंहारक” बताया है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ की मानवाधिकार समिति के उच्चायुक्त ने इस आक्रमण की निंदा की है और इराक के लिये संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ के सहायक मिशन ने इस घटना पर गम्भीर चिंता व्यक्त की है।
