In an accompanying article in Nature Materials, Michael Thackeray, a researcher at Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois who specializes in lithium battery materials, wrote that the increase in the bulk electronic conductivity of lithium iron phosphate had exciting implications for the future use of the material in a new generation of lithium-ion batteries.
