Let's start with what its impact will not be. It will not bring American opinion together; if the “United We Stand” slogan lasted brief months after 9/11, consensus after Boston will be even more elusive. The violence will not lead to Israeli-like security measures in the United States. Nor will it lead to a greater preparedness to handle deadly sudden jihad syndrome violence. It will not end the dispute over the motives behind indiscriminate Muslim violence against non-Muslims. And it certainly will not help resolve current debates over immigration or guns. पहले हम इस चर्चा से आरम्भ करते हैं कि इस घटना के क्या परिणाम नहीं होंगे? इससे अमेरिका के विचारों में एकता नहीं आयेगी , यदि 11 सितम्बर के पश्चात “हम एक हैं” का भाव घटना के कुछ महीनों तक टिका था तो बोस्टन के बाद इस आम सहमति की कल्पना भ्रम ही है। इस हिंसा के पश्चात भी अमेरिका में इजरायल जैसी सुरक्षा के लिये कदम नहीं उठाये जायेंगे। इसके चलते अचानक जिहाद की घटनाओं के रोग को रोकने के लिये भी कोई विशेष तैयारी नहीं होगी। इसके पश्चात भी गैर मुस्लिमों के विरुद्ध मुस्लिमों द्वारा की जाने वाली लगातार हिंसा के उद्देश्य को लेकर विवाद समाप्त नहीं होगा। साथ ही निश्चित रूप से इसके चलते आप्रवास और बन्दूक को लेकर चल रही बहस को सुलझाने में भी सहायता नहीं मिलेगी।
