My reasoning is that if animals were really exchanging complex and specific data in this way a ) the language would be anything BUT mystical long-chain mantras and b ) . the consequences of such exchanges would have enormous effects on group behaviour, as in my example of how whales could have upturned harpooners rowboats if they could communicate.
