To reduce the emission of smoke into the atmosphere , gas cylinders were introduced to stop burning of coal and power plants were fitted with precipitators to remove fly ash from the combustion gases . वातावरण में उत्सर्जित होने वाले धुएं की मात्रा कम करने के उद्देश्य से कोयला जलाना कम करने के लिए गैस सिलिंडरों का प्रयोग शुरू किया गया और ताप बिजलीघरों में कोयला जलने से उत्पन्न ज्वलनशील गैसों के साथ निकलने वाली उड़नशील राख को अलग करने के लिए संयंत्रों में प्रेसिपिटेटर लगाए गये .
