"Flight formation aerobatics " are flown by teams of up to sixteen aircraft, although most teams fly between four and ten aircraft . Some are state funded to reflect pride in the armed forces while others are commercially sponsored.

PAF's B-57 Squadron was the first to form a regular formation aerobatics team of four such aircraft . The unknown Pakistani flying ace, 8-Pass Charlie, was named by his adversaries for making eight passes in the moonlight, to bomb different targets with each of the B-57's bombs.
