After he was hanged due to fear of riots English first divided his dead body into pieces and then put it in a bad and took it to Firojpur and started in cremation with kerosene oil in place of ghee. फांसी के बाद कोई आन्दोलन ना भड़क जाए इसके डर से अंग्रेजों ने पहले इनके मृत शरीर के टुकड़े किए तथा फिर इसे बोरियों में भर कर फ़िरोजपुर की ओर ले गए जहां घी के बदले किरासन तेल में ही इनको जलाया जाने लगा ।
