To his credit, Crichton has done a fair amount of homework and supplies a 3 1 / 2-page historical bibliography as well as an additional half-page of references to quantum physics; he outlines some historical facts, and the bare text is adorned with maps, illustrations, and computer graphics so that the reader can understand the architecture and structure of castles and mills the characters are racing around.
