The book Patanjah relates that Nandikesvara offered many sacrifices to Mahadeva , and was in consequence transferred into paradise in his human shape ; that Indra , the ruler , had intercourse with the wife of Nahusha the Brahmin , and therefore was changed into a serpent by way of punishment . ? पातंजल ? में यह वर्णन आता है कि नंदिकेश्वर ने महादेव के नाम पर अनेक यज्ञ किए और उसी के फलस्वरूप उसे मानव-शरीर के साथ स्वर्ग में भेज दिया गया.और राज इंद्र ने चूंकि नहुष नामक ब्राह्मण की पत्नी के साथ संभोग किया था , इसलिए उसे दंडस्वरूप सर्प की योनी में परिवर्तित कर दिया गया था .
