I've looked at inductive proof but it seems a bit messy and I'm hoping there's a nice clean / concise solution-I have no doubt the reference desk brains are far more capable of coming up with an elegant proof than I am; ) ( or if there is a particularly concise inductive proof, I have nothing against induction ! ) Could anyone suggest anything, please?
