A few localities with governments controlled by the Kuomintang ( KMT ), most notably Taipei, Hsinchu, and Kinmen County, overrode the order and converted to " Hanyu Pinyin " before the January 1, 2009 national-level switch, though with a slightly different capitalization convention than mainland China.
