Sir Brian is currently a member of the University Grants Committee, Hong Kong, President of the National Foundation for Educational Research, Chairman of the National Council for Drama Training and a Director of Higher Aims Ltd, a private consultancy involved in higher education and research management.

The primary focuses of the archive were curriculum, assessment and initial frameworks for training teachers at schools with children ages 3 19 . The website was funded by the Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency ( QCDA ) with content managed by the National Foundation for Educational Research ( NFER ).

He was also actively involved in the Secondary School Examinations Council, the National Advisory Council on the Training and Supply of Teachers, the National Foundation for Educational Research, the New Education Fellowship, the Advisory Council on Education in the Colonies and the Association of Teachers in Colleges and Departments of Education.

He rose to become the Director of Educational Services for the RAF from 1944, during which time he was also a member of the executive committee for the National Institute of Adult Education and the National Foundation for Educational Research, as well as a member of the governing body of the School of Oriental and African Studies.
