Prior to this in 1930 poet muhammad ikbal demanded for a new country consisting of four north-western Provinces of india - sindh, baluchistan, punjab and afghan(a border province) इसके पहले सन् 1930 में शायर मुहम्मद इक़बाल ने भारत के उत्तर-पश्चिमी चार प्रान्तों -सिन्ध बलूचिस्तान पंजाब तथा अफ़गान (सूबा-ए-सरहद)- को मिलाकर एक अलग राष्ट्र की मांग की थी ।

Even the last of the series , the Muslims from the north-western countries , have been here for eight to twelve centuries ; though the story of their life might have been different from that of the rest in the beginning , for the last 200 years before independence their lot had been the same as that of the rest , i.e . they had passed through the same political and economic bondage and exploitation , by the same foreign power . अंतिम श्रृंखला में भी मुसलमान उत्तर-पश्चिम देशों से आठ से बारह शताब्दी पूर्व भारत में आये.प्रारंभ में भारत के अन्य लोगों की तुलता में इनकें जीवन की कहानी भिन्न रही होगी , किंतु स्वतंत्रता के पूर्व 200 वर्षो से , वे बाकी अन्य सब लोगों के समान ही रहे , अर्थात वे उसी विदेशी शासन के राजनैतिक , आर्थिक बंधनों तथा शोषण में से निकले है एकता स्थापित करने वाले तथ्यों को सर्वेक्षण करने के बाद , हम जाति और धर्म और की उन की बातों की ओर ध्यान दें , जो देश में फूट की प्रवृतियों को प्रोत्साहित करने वाली विभाजक शक़्तियां मानी जाती
