Although Orchesis is an ASI Club, it is also known as an academic organization because it is funded through the Instructionally Related Activities for the Theatre and Dance Department at Cal Poly.

He was a scholarship student at the University of Utah, where he danced in Orchesis, directed by Shirley Ririe and Joan Woodbury and in the Utah Theatre Ballet ( later named Ballet West ), directed by Willam Christensen.

There are also many performing ensembles offered : the Winter Musical ( established in 1967 ), the Fall Play, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Musical Pit Orchestra, Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Music Ministry, and Orchesis.

While not sponsored by the IHSA, the school's athletic department also supports a competitive poms team, a dance team ( orchesis ), a rugby team, and a team which competes in and works with the Special Olympics.
