Mahadevi Verma did her primary education in Mission School, Indore. Along with that she was taught Sanskrit, English, music and fine arts at home by private tutors. महादेवी जी की शिक्षा इंदौर में मिशन स्कूल से प्रारम्भ हुई साथ ही संस्कृत अंग्रेज़ी संगीत तथा चित्रकला की शिक्षा अध्यापकों द्वारा घर पर ही दी जाती रही।

The Company 's administration did not concern itself at all with primary education in spite of the fact that many old Maktabs had been closed down during the period of political unrest and economic distress . कंपनी के प्रशासन ने अपने को प्राथमिक शिक्षा से बिल्कुल भी संबधित नहीं किया , इस तथ्य के बावजूद भी कि बहुत से पुराने मकतब राजनैतिक अशांति और आर्थिक संकट के कारण बंद कर दिए गये थे .

The first of these objectives demands that all boys and girls , without distinction of class or caste should be educated under a system of free and compulsory primary education and all talented children should have an equal opportunity for higher education . इनमें से प्रथम उद्देश्य यह मांग करता है कि सभी लड़के और लड़कियां Zबिना किसी वर्ग या जाति भेद के नि : शुल्क और अनिवार्य प्राथमिक शिक्षा व्यवस्था के अंतर्गत शिक्षित किये जायें तथा सभी कुशाग्र बुद्धि के बच्चों को बराबरी से उच्च शिक्षा का अवसर दिया जाये .

No doubt enormous financial resources are required for providing free primary education to the whole age-group six to fourteen and at the same time giving all deserving and talented children stipends for studying in high schools and universities . इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं कि 6 से 14 वर्ष की उम्र के समूह में सभी को नि : शुल्क प्राथमि शिक्षा देने तथा साथ ही सभी योग़्य कुशाग्र बुद्धि बच्चों को स्कूल और विश्वविद्यालय में उच्च शिक्षा प्राप्त करने के लिए छात्रवृति देने हेतु बड़ी मात्रा में आर्थिक साधनों की जरूरत है .

As far as primary education was concerned , the Government had so little interest in it that its administration was transferred to the Municipal and District Board , the Education Department of the Government only prescribing the syllabus of studies and occasionally sending its officers for inspection . जहां तक प्राथमिक शिक्षा का संबध है , सरकार का उसकी ओर इतना कम ध्यान था कि उसका प्रशासन म्यूनिसिपल तथा डिस्ट्रिक़्ट बोर्डो को हस्तांरित कर दिया गया.सरकार का शिक्षा विभाग केवल अध्ययन का पाठ्यक्रम निर्धारित करता था तथा कभी कभी जांच के लिए अधिकारियों को भेजता था .
