The bedrock of the landscape around Gold Butte Peak and nearby Bonelli Peak consist of gray, Proterozoic, porphyritic perthite-quartz-biotite granites and quartz monzonites that are also classified as rapakivi granite.

This area also contains some younger ( ca . 1.5-1.65 Ga ) Rapakivi granites as well as Jotnian sandstones ( ca . 1.2-1.5 Ga ).

The rest of the hallway is also filled with a hardenend mass of sediments, such as clay, sand, silt and rapakivi, inside straight walls, a ceiling and a floor consisting of bedrock ( granite ).
