These independent stupas or maha-chaityas contained relic caskets preserving fragmentary portions of the relics of the Buddha , or some other great master , suitably hidden and sealed inside . इन स्तूपों तथा महाचैत्यों में महात्मा बुद्ध और अन्य महात्माओं के अवशेषों को भी , इन स्तूपों में बंद कर पर्याप्त सुरक्षित ढंग से रख दिया जाता था .
