Diwali is auspicious for Sikhs too as on this day in the Year 1577 the foundation stone of Golden Temple was laid in Amritsar. सिक्खों के लिए भी दीवाली महत्त्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि इसी दिन ही अमृतसर में १५७७ में स्वर्ण मन्दिर का शिलान्यास हुआ था।

In 1984 what we saw were organised pogroms against Sikhs and in Gujarat what we have just seen are organised pogroms against Muslims . 1984 में हमने जो देखा वह सिखों का सुनियोजित संहार था , तो गुजरात में अभी जो हिंसा देखी वह मुसलमानों की सुनियोजित हत्या थी .
