By common sense you may think that that compassion was only for those Arabs who lived in that country then at that special particular point of time, but if you think with a sober mind you will find out that what those Arabs experience then is applicable to any human being living at any place on this earth and living in any particular point of time and further you will have the same experience those Arabs had then. सरसरी तौर पर यही लगता है कि क़ुरान उस समय के अरबों के लिए ही अवतरित किया गया था किन्तु आप जब भी किसी ऐसे स्थान पर पहुंचें जब यह लगे कि यह बात केवल एक विशेष काल तथा देश के लिए है तब वहां रूक कर विचार करें या इसे नोट करके बाद में इस पर विचार करें तो आप को हर बार लगेगा कि मनुष्य हर युग और हर भू भाग का एक है और उस पर वह बात ठीक वैसी ही लागू होती है जैसी उस समय के अरबों पर लागू होती थी।

Far from viewing Islam as a “bulwark against Communism,” as later was the case, the Military Intelligence Service sees Muslims as easy prey for Moscow. It finds Muslim states “weak and torn by internal stresses” and deems their peoples “insufficiently educated to appraise propaganda or to understand the motives of those who promise a new Heaven and a new Earth.” The analysis ends on a sober note: इस्लाम के सम्बन्ध में यह अध्याय सोवियत संघ के साथ अमेरिका की शत्रुता पर दृष्टि रखने के साथ ही समाप्त होता है. इस्लाम को कम्युनिज्म के विरुद्ध एक सुरक्षा दीवार माना गया परन्तु सैन्य खुफिया सेवा ने इसे मास्को का सरल शिकार बताया है. इसके अनुसार मुस्लिम राज्य कमजोर हैं और अपने अन्तर्विरोधों से टूट चुके हैं तथा इन देशों के लोग इतने शिक्षित नहीं है कि नये स्वर्ग या नयी घरती का आश्वासन देने वालों के हेतु को समझ सकें.

Hadith claim Mecca was a great trading city but, strangely, the historical record reveals it as no such thing. एक अत्यंत अच्छी तरह लिखी गयी , सौम्य और स्पष्ट लेखा जोखा से वे इस बात से आरम्भ करते हैं और प्रदर्शित करते हैं कि मोहम्मद के जीवन , कुरान और आरम्भिक इस्लाम के सम्बंध में परम्परागत रूप से जो माना जाता है उसमें असंगतता और रहस्य हैं। उदाहरण के लिये जहाँ कुरान इस बात पर जोर देता है कि मोहम्मद ने चमत्कार नहीं किये थे तो वहीं हदीथ ने उन्हे असाधारण शक्तियों वाला बताया है जिसमें कि भोजन को द्विगुणित कर देना, घायल को ठीक कर देना , आकाश और धरती से जल निकाल देना और यहाँ तक कि अपने स्वर्ण से प्रकाश भेजना। यह सब क्या है? हदीथ का दावा है कि मक्का एक महान व्यापारिक शहर था लेकिन ऐतिहासिक आँकडे ऐसी किसी बात की पुष्टि नहीं करते।
