Nineteenth century “purification jihads” took place in several regions against fellow Muslims. The most radical and consequential of these was the Wahhabis' jihad in Arabia. In other words , if in making its struggle for freedom , a subject people reached a stage at which it could be said to be a struggle waged by an organised army according to the accepted rules of war , then that army must be accorded all the rights , privileges and immunities of the army of a belligerent State in war . दूसरे शब्दों में , अगर आजादी के लिए संघर्ष करते समय , पराधीन जनता ऐसी स्थिति तक पहुंच जाये , जिसे युद्ध के स्वीकृत नियामानुसार एक संगठित सेना द्वारा छेड़ा गया युद्ध कहा जा सके , तो उस सेना को ऐसे युद्ध में एक युद्धकारी शक़्ति के सभी अधिकार , विशेषाधिकार और रियायतें प्राप्त हैं .

The only way to stop this cycle is for governments to stand firmly on principle: “Citizens have freedom of speech, which specifically means the right to insult and annoy. The authorities will protect this right. Muslims do not enjoy special privileges but are subject to the same free-speech rules as everyone else. Leave us alone.” अभी तक 2012 के आक्रमण के चलते 4 अमेरिकी लोगों की मृत्यु हुई है और सम्भव है कि यह आगे और बढे। जोन्स (अपने International Judge Muhammad Day के द्वारा) और सैम बैसिले ( जो कि सम्भवतः अस्तित्व में न हो परंतु जिन पर आरोप है कि उन्होंने ही इस्लाम विरोधी वीडियो बनाकर 11 सितम्बर के इस बार के आक्रमण को प्रेरित किया) न केवल लोगों के लिये मृत्यु की स्थिति निर्माण कर सकते हैं वरन अमेरिका और मिस्र के सम्बंधों में टकराव ला सकते हैं और अमेरिका के राष्ट्रपति चुनावों में एक तत्व बन सकते हैं।

When President Bush declared a “war against terrorism,” he ignored the real enemy - militant Islam, a brutal, totalitarian ideology. Not explicitly targeting militant Islam has been costly, hindering everything from airline security to sensible immigration policies. It renders Washington unable to explain why U.S. troops are only fighting in theatres in and around the Muslim world, or why certain Muslims warrant special attention from law enforcement. Worse, it means not identifying potential allies, especially moderate Muslims. Grade: D. विचारधारागत : 11 सितम्बर के पश्चात अमेरिका ने एक रणनीति के विरुद्ध युद्ध का आरम्भ किया है जब राष्ट्रपति बुश ने घोषणा की कि “ आतंकवाद के विरुद्ध युद्ध” उन्होंने ऐसा करते हुए वास्तविक शत्रु की अवहेलना की वह है उग्रवादी इस्लाम , एक क्रूर और अधिनायकवादी विचारधारा। स्पष्ट रूप से उग्रवादी इस्लाम को निशान न बनाना मँहगा पडा विमान की सुरक्षा से लेकर बुद्धिमत्तापूर्ण आप्रवास नीति तक। इससे वाशिंगटन यह व्याख्या कर पाने में असफल है कि अमेरिकी सेनायें केवल और केवल मुस्लिम विश्व के आस पास ही क्यों युद्ध कर रही हैं और कुछ मुस्लिम कानून प्रवर्तन संस्थाओं के निशाने पर विशेष रूप से क्यों हैं? इससे भी बुरा यह है कि इसके चलते सम्भावित सहयोगियों की पहचान नहीं हो पा रही है और वह है नरमपंथी मुस्लिम।

Shah Waliullah (1703-62) a leading thinker of Indian Islam. Key to Islam's role in public life is Sharia and the many untenable demands it makes on Muslims. Running a government with the minimal taxes permitted by Sharia has proved to be unsustainable; and how can one run a financial system without charging interest? A penal system that requires four men to view an adulterous act in flagrante delicto is impractical. Sharia's prohibition on warfare against fellow Muslims is impossible for all to live up to; indeed, roughly three-quarters of all warfare waged by Muslims has been directed against other Muslims. Likewise, the insistence on perpetual jihad against non-Muslims demands too much. सार्वजनिक जीवन में इस्लाम की भूमिका की चाबी शरियत और मुसलमानों के लिये इसकी अनेक अतार्किक माँगें हैं । शरियत के अनुसार सरकार को कम से कम कर से चलाया जाना चाहिये परंतु यह स्थायी सिद्ध नहीं हो सका ; इसी प्रकार बिना ब्याज के किसी वित्तीय व्यवस्था को कैसे चलाया जा सकता है? दंड व्यवस्था में अनैतिक कृत्य को रंगे हाथों चार पुरुष देखें यह भी अव्याहारिक है। साथी मुस्लिम के विरुद्ध युद्ध को भी शरियत प्रतिबंधित करता है और इस पर भी खरा उतरना सम्भव नहीं है ; वास्तविकता तो यह है कि मुसलमानों द्वारा किये गये युद्ध का तीन चौथाई तो अन्य मुसलमानों के विरुद्ध किया गया है। इसी प्रकार गैर मुसलमानों के विरुद्ध शास्वत जिहाद पर जोर देने के लिये भी काफी प्रयास की आवश्यकता है।

Edward Said , university professor, calls the U.S. policy in Iraq a “grotesque show” perpetrated by a “small cabal” of unelected individuals who hijacked U.S. policy. He accuses “George Bush and his minions” of hiding their imperialist grab for “oil and hegemony” under a false intent to build democracy and human rights. Said deems Operation Iraqi Freedom “an abuse of human tolerance and human values” waged by an “avenging Judeo-Christian god of war.” This war, he says, fits into a larger pattern of America “reducing whole peoples, countries and even continents to ruin by nothing short of holocaust.” एडवर्ड सेड - विश्वविद्यालय के प्रोफेसर ने इराक में अमेरिकी नीति को एक स्तब्ध कर देने वाला प्रदर्शन बताया जो कि अनिर्वाचित गोपनीय राजनीतिक दल द्वारा संचालित है जिसने अमेरिका की नीतियों का अपहरण कर लिया है। उन्होंने जार्ज बुश और उनके सहयोगियों पर आरोप लगाया है कि वे तेल और प्रभाव के अपने साम्राज्यवादी लोभ को मानवाधिकार तथा लोकतन्त्र निर्मित करने के आशय के पीछे छुपा रहे हैं। सेड के अनुसार आपरेशन इराकी फ्रीडम मानवीय सहिष्णुता और मानवीय मूल्यों का उल्लंघन है जो ईसाई और यहूदी युद्ध देवता द्वारा चलाया गया है। उनके अनुसार यह युद्ध अमेरिका की उस बड़ी परिपाटी में सटीक बैठते है, जिसमें सभी देशों, लोगों और यहाँ तक कि महाद्वीपों को जनसंहार से कम कुछ भी नहीं की स्थिति में नष्ट किया जाये।
