The notice asked why they should not be committed to prison or otherwise dealt with according to law for contempt for having written and published the said article containing contemptuous and defamatory matter concerning Mr Justice Norris . इस नोटिस में पूछा गया था कि न्यायाधीश श्री नौरिस के बारे में ऐसा निंदापूर्ण और अपमानजनक लेख लिखने और छापने के लिए उन्हें जेल क्यों न भेजा जाये , या मानहानि के लिए कानूनन सजा क्यों न दी जाये .

It is an offence to do any of the things described above intending, knowing, or having reasonable cause to believe, that they would cause the tenant to leave their home, or stop using part of it, or stop doing the things a tenant should normally expect to be able to do. अगर कोई भी कृत्य जिससे किरायेदार या उस के साथ रहने वाला या वाली की शांतता या चैन को भंग करने की कोशिश करता है तो यह कानूनन गुनाह माना जा सकता है ।

' De jure ' King of India , Bahadur Shah looked upon the British in India as his subjects , owing allegiance to him under the terms of the Diwani of Bengal signed by his grandfather , Shah Alam in 1765 . एक शासक के रूप में बहादुरशाह हिंदुस्तान के अंग्रेजों को कानूनन अपनी प्रजा समझते थे , क्योंकि 1765 में उनके दादा शाह आलम ने बंगाल की जिस दीवानी पर हस्ताक्षर किये थे , उसकी शर्तों के तहत अंग्रेजों ने स्वामिभक्ति की शपथ ली थी .
