Turning to the temples of Lakkundi , also near Gadag , one comes across temples in the construction of which sandstone , till then usual , is totally abandoned in favour of a fine-textured , soft , chloritic schist stone that is quarried naturally in lesser thicknesses . गडग के निकट ही , लक़्कुंडी के मंदिरों को देखें , तो ऐसे मंदिर प्राप्त होते हैं , जिनके निर्माण में तब तक सामान्यरूपेण पाया जानेवाला बालुकाश्म का उपयोग पूरी तरह से छोड़ दिया गया और उसके साथ बढ़िया तंतु रचनावाला , नर्म , क़्लोराइटिक शिष्ट पत्थर उपयोग में लाया गया जिसे स्वाभाविक रूप से कम मोटाई में खदान से निकाला जा सकता था .

While the adhishthana of the vimana or srikoyil is of moulded stone with all parts resembling those of the adhishthana of the southern temples , the walls are usually of laterite blocks which are abundant in the area , and can be cut and shaped easily when freshly quarried . जबकि विमान या श्रीकोयिल का अधिषऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-ठान तराशे गए पाषाण खंडों का है और उसके सारे अंग किसी भी दक्षिणी मंदिर के अधिषऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-ठान के अंगों के सदृशऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-य है , दीवारें सामानऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-यतया लेटराइट खंडों की हैं जो इस क्षेत्र में प्रचुरता से प्रापऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-त है , और खदान से निकाल कर ताजा ताजा आसानी से उस काटा और आकार दिया जा सकता है .
