July 16, 2013 update : Bill de Blasio , New York City's Public Advocate and a Democratic mayoral candidate, has taken up this issue, focusing not on the carrying of artifacts on planes but on the ban on Israelis: Saudia, he said, should be excluded from U.S. airports unless it stops discriminating. “Saudi Arabian Airlines uses U.S. airports and yet bans Israeli citizens from being able to fly on their airline.” If the airline doesn't change its policy, गैर वहाबी धार्मिक सामग्री की अनुमति हो - इससे सउदी अरब के पास ‘बाइबिल, क्रास के निशान , मूर्तियों , नक्काशी और स्टार ऑफ डेविड जैसे धार्मिक चिन्ह का आयात स्वीकार करने के अतिरिक्त कोई रास्ता नहीं होगा। एक बार इन सामग्रियों के लिए अनुमति देने के उपरान्त और भी लाभ उसके बाद मिलेंगे जैसे राज्य में रह रहे लाखों गैर मुसलमानों को गैर इस्लामी इमारतों और कार्यों की अनुमति भी मिल जायेगी। इससे उन मुसलमानों को लाभ होगा जो इस्लाम की वहाबी व्याख्या को नहीं मानते।
