In his famous poem of that name he says , ” O my Inmost Being , is your thirst quenched by coming into my heart ? इसी शीर्षक से लिखी गई अपनी प्रसिद्ध कविता में वह कहते हैं , ” ओ मेरे अंतर्यामी , क्या मेरे हृदय में आकर तुम्हारे हृदय की प्यास बुझी ?

Its onset is rather abrupt , the child experiences frequency of urination , excessive thirst , increase in appetite , but paradoxically loss of weight . यह अचानक शुरू होता है तथा बच्चे को बार-बार पेशाब आता है , अधिक प्यास लगती है , भूख बढ़ जाती है परंतु शरीर का वजन कम होता जाता है .

It is easy to associate thirst with frequent urination and not think about them as symptoms of some abnormality or disease of the body . हम बार-बार पेशाब करने और अधिक प्यास लगने के बीच के संबंध को तो अक़्सर समझ लेते हैं परंतु प्राय : यह नहीं समझ पाते कि ये दोनों किसी बीमारी के सूचक हो सकते हैं .

Nidanasthana 4/47 -RRB- . तत्पश्चात रोगी का मूंह , तालू तथा गला सुख जाता है , अधिक प्यास लगती है , आलस्य रहता है तथा शरीर के किसी भाग में कम व किसी में अधिक संवेदना महसूस होती है . In the Chandogya Upanishad , Prajapati answering Indra 's question points out to him the characteristics by which the true self or atma can be recognised : “ The self which is free from sin , old age , death , pain , hunger and thirst , which desires what it should desire and thinks what it should think ; that self we must try to know . ” “ छांदोग़्य उपनिषद् में , प्रजाZपति इंद्र के प्रश्नों के उत्तर देते हुए उन लक्षणो की ओर संकेत किया गया है , जिनके द्वारा सही अर्थो में स्व या आत्मा की पहचाना जा सके . ” आत्मा जो पाप , वृद्धावस्था , मृत्यु , पीड़ी , भूख और प्यास मुक़्त है , जो इच्छा करती है कि उसे क़्या इच्छा करनी चाहिए और सोचती है कि उसे क़्या सोचना चाहिए ; उस आत्मा को हमे अवश्य जानने के प्रयत्न करना चाहिए .
