Comment on this item सांस्कृतिक रूप से यह सम्पर्क स्वाभाविक है। गाजावासी मिस्र के सिनाय प्रायद्वीप वासियों जैसी अरबी भाषा बोलते हैं और मिस्र में उनके पश्चिमी तट से अधिक पारिवारिक सम्बन्ध हैं और आर्थिक रूप से वे मिस्र से अधिक जुड़े हैं । इससे भी आगे हमास का उद्भव एक इस्लामी संगठन मुस्लिम ब्रेथरेन से हुआ है। ओटावा सिटीजन के डेविड वारेन ने कहा है कि गाजावासियों को ‘फिलीस्तीनी ' कहना राजनीतिक दृष्टि से भले ही ठीक हो परन्तु ठीक नहीं है। आखिर मिस्र के इस सम्बन्ध को औपचारिक क्यों न बना दिया जाये। अन्य लोगो के अतिरिक्त इससे इजरायल के विरूद्ध राकेट आक्रमण रूकेगा , इससे एक शताब्दी पुराने फिलीस्तीनी राष्ट्रवाद का खोखलापन सामने आयेगा जो सम्भवत: अरब - इजरायल संघर्ष का कारण। यह परिभाषित करना कठिन है कि 1948 से अब तक मिस्र को 65 बिलियन यू . एस डालर देने का लाभ क्या हुआ है परन्तु यदि मिस्र गाजा को आत्मसात कर लेता है तो वे 1.8 बिलियन डालर प्रतिवर्ष भी दे सकते हैं।
