In a paper,presented at an UGC seminar on Bangla Desh held in Calcutta in April 1972 , Prof Ahmed stated : The movement which led to the creation of Pakistan was not a religious movement . . ..Fear of Hindu political domination which could adversely affect the -LRB- Muslim -RRB- community 's political , economic and cultural interests seemed to have been an important factor which influenced the movement . अप्रैल , 1972 में कलकत्ता में विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग की एक संगोष्ठी में प्रस्तुत अपने निबंध में उन्होंने कहा : जिस आंदोलन की परिणति पाकिस्तान के निर्माण में हुई , वह आंदोलन धार्मिक नहीं था . . .. लगता है कि हिंदुओं के राजनीतिक प्रभुत्व का भय आंदोलन को प्रभावित करने में महत्वपूर्ण रहा , क्योंकि उसने मुस्लिम संप्रदाय के राजनैतिक , आर्थिक और सांस्कृतिक हितों पर प्रतिकूल प्रभाव डाला होता .
