According to my opinion , these days are festivals , sacred to the yugas , instituted for the purposes of alms giving or for the performance of some rites and ceremonies , as , e.g . the commemoration days in the year of the Christians . मेरा यह मत है कि ये चारों दिन पर्व के हैं और युगों के लिए पुण्य हैं.इन्हें दान देने या कुछ धार्मिक अनुष्ठान या संस्कार करने के प्रयोजन से नियत किया गया है जैसा कि ईसाइयों के वर्ष में स्मरणोत्सव Zनियत किए गए हैं .

The Brahman , as long as he lives , eats only twice a day , at noon and at nightfall ; and when he wants to take his rrieal , he begins by putting aside as much as is sufficient for one or two men as alms , especially for strange Brahmans who happen to come at evening-time asking for something . ब्राह्मण जीवनपर्यंत Zदिन में केवल दो बार भोजन करता है-दोपहर को और रात को.और जब भी उसे भोजन करना हो खाना शुरू करने से पहले वह उतना भोजन अलग रख देता है जो एक या दो व्यक्तियों के Zलिए विशेष रूप से उन अपरिचित ब्राह्मणों के Zलिए पर्याप्त हो जो हो सकता है शाम के समय कुछ मांगते हुए आ Zनिकलें .

The duty of the heir towards the deceased in the first year consists in his giving sixteen banquets , where every guest in addition to his Duties of the heir towards the deceased food receives alms also , viz . on the fifteenth and sixteenth days after death ; further , once a month during the whole year . मृत वऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-यि> के प्रति वारिस के कर्तवऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-य मृत वऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-यि> की मृतऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-यु के बाद पहले वर्ष उसके वारिस का यह कर्तवऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-य है कि वह सोलह भोज दे ऋनमें हरेक अतिथि को भोजन के अलावा भिक्षा भी दी जाए अर्थात मृतऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-यु के पंद्रहवें और सोलहवें दिनL इसके अतिरिकऋ-ऊण्श्छ्ष्-त पूरे वर्ष मास में एक बार भोज दिया जाय .
