The old family Apidae contained four tribes ( Apinae : Apini, Euglossini and Bombinae : Bombini, Meliponini ) which have been reclassified as tribes of the subfamily Apinae, along with all of the former tribes of Anthophoridae ( subfamily Athophorinae ) and the former family Ctenoplectridae, which was demoted to tribe status.

With over 850 species, the genus " "'Nomada " "'is one of the largest genera in the family Apidae, and the largest genus of scopa, and are often extraordinarily wasp-like in appearance, with red, black, and yellow colors prevailing, and with smoky ( infuscated ) wings or wing tips.

Including " B . impatiens, " the " Bombus " genus contains 250 species and most species are characterized by their eusociality or parasitic nature . and " B . impatiens " belongs to the subgenus " Pyrobombus " . " B . impatiens " is also of the Hymenoptera order and Apidae family which characterizes its kin selection and relatedness.

The number of times kleptoparasitic behavior has independently evolved within the bees is remarkable; C . D . Michener ( 2000 ) lists 16 lineages in which parasitism of social species has evolved ( mostly in the family Apidae ), and 31 lineages that parasitize solitary hosts ( mostly in Apidae, Megachilidae, and Halictidae ), collectively representing several thousand species, and therefore a very large proportion of overall bee diversity.
