Pont-Farcy has a petrol station, a bar and newsagents, a hotel and restaurant called " Le Coq Hardi ", a church with graveyard and a separate cemetery, the latter of which practices the French custom of naming the living on the tombstones ( leaving the year of death blank ).

These include Maxibels, very slender and extra long; Fire Dragons, off-white beans streaked dramatically with purple and green; Royal Burgundy, green inside and dark purple outside, meant for eating young in salads; and Triumph de Farcy, or haricots verts, thin, tender French beans that need only the slightest cooking.

During October and November 1884 the Farcy gunboats " Revolver " and " Mitrailleuse ", based at Tuyen Quang, and the gunboats " Bourrasque ", " �clair ", " Mutine " and " Trombe ", operating out of Hung Hoa, mounted a number of dangerous supply runs along the Clear River between Hung Hoa and Tuyen Quang in support of the small French garrison at Tuyen Quang.
