The adult flies are very delicate midges with long and slender antennae and looking very much like mayflies . प्रौढ़ मक़्खियां बहुत कोमल मशकाभ होते हैं निकी श्रृंगिकाएं लंबी और पतली होती हैं ओव वे मई मक़्खियों से बहुत ज़्यादा मिलती जुलती हैं .

Rats which are carriers of insects and other bio-organisms are responsible for causing plague as was recently witnessed in Surat in 1994 . रोग पैदा करने वाले जीवों की वाहक ये मक्खियां पेचिश , दस्त , आदि जैसे रोगों को जन्म देती हैं . कीटों तथा अन्य जीवों के वाहक चूहे प्लेग जैसी बीमारी को जन्म देते हैं जैसा कि अभी हाल ही में 1994 में सूरत में देखने में आया था .
